At UMaine, we want you to explore the possibilities that exist outside your door and halfway around the world. Yes, we're a relatively small public university in a relatively small state (well, population-wise, anyway), but we're big on opportunity. Really big.

Our art museum has a world-class permanent collection. And you can stare at the Warhols, the Marins and the Picasso as often as you want , because students always get in free. You can also watch internationally known acts at the Maine Center for Arts, which will open in January 2009 after extensive renovations. Through our academic visual and performing arts programs, our student artists shine, too.

Exploration doesn't stop with culture, however. It extends to cultures. We offer opportunities for our undergraduates to study on other campuses in the United States and abroad.

At UMaine, the world is yours to explore. And the horizon is yours to expand. Get to it.

Matthew Palmer"UMaine has given me the opportunity to pursue a number of career-related adventures that I would otherwise not have had an opportunity to do. As part of Model UN, after receiving a good amount of funding from the Student Government, I was able to travel to Montreal and participate in Model UN against students from all the Ivy league schools, the Academies, and premier schools from across the world. As part of Naval ROTC, something found at few elite schools nationwide, I have received tremendous leadership training that will not only prepare me for the Navy, but in my career search later on. In the classroom, the diversity of the faculty routinely 'keeps me on my toes' and opens up a number of perspectives that might have been foreign to me. I've grown tremendously as a person in my time here."
