To arrange college or major specific tours or information sessions, please refer to the contact information available on the Academic Fact Sheets provided by the Office of Admissions and posted on the UMaine web page at If you would like to have a general campus walking tour in addition to your specific tour, please indicate your arrangements on  your online registration for the general campus walking tour.

Please contact academic/other departments for specific information regarding departmental tours.

  • Advanced Structures & Composites Center

Groups of 20 or fewer please schedule at least 1 day in advance.  If group is larger than 20, please give more than a 2 days notice.   • Foster Center for Student Innovation

Hilltop area of campus, weekdays, 8am – 5pm. Groups of 30 or fewer. Hands on activities are available with one weeks notice. Contact us at (207) 581-1454 to set up a tour. More information at

  • Hudson Museum

Located in the Collins Center for the Arts. Open Monday to Friday 9:00 to 4:00; Saturdays 11:00 to 4:00.  Guided tours and Gallery Programs for learners of all ages.  Fee for programs.  Fieldtrip grants for school groups available by application. Website:

  • Lyle E. Littlefield Ornamental Garden

Rangeley Road, begins end of May, groups of up to 35, no cost. Due to high volume of visits, please call one week in advance to set up a tour, (207) 581-3112. Website:

  • Maynard F. Jordan Planetarium

Located in Wingate Hall, Weekdays, 9am – 4:30pm, Groups of 45 or less, 30 minute show, Cost: $50 for full group. 1 hr. show is $75 or $3 per person, whichever is greater. Pay by cash, credit card, or check to the Jordan Planetarium. Planetarium tours/shows for April, May, & June are subject to cancellation due to closure.   • Mainely Physics Road Show

‘Offroad’ version of the Department of Physics and Astronomy road show, Bennett Hall. All days 8am – 5pm depending on availability of lecture halls. Can accommodate groups from 10 to 200. Can split groups with other campus activities. Adjustable 1 to 1 1/2 hr duration. No cost, donations welcomed to cover expenses. Contact David Sturm at Website:

  • UMaine Process Development Center

Jenness Hall, Groups of 20 or less, No cost. Need to provide information about visitors who are taking this tour. If students, please contact Faye Murray at 581-2297. If non-students, please contact Betty Ingraham at 581-2281. Website:

  • Fogler Library

Tours of  Fogler Library for school groups cover public service areas and the collection. Tours run from 30 minutes to an hour. Groups of 15-20. No cost. Reservations should be made at least two weeks in advance. Website:

  • Robotics Lab

  • Roger Clapp Greenhouses
