First-Year Students

General Scholarship Information

  • Awards are renewable for up to a total of 8 semesters provided that the student meets renewal criteria listed below.
  • Awards are disbursed in two equal installments, one at the beginning of the fall semester and one at the beginning of the spring semester, as credit toward the student’s tuition account.
  • The award must be used within a period not to exceed five years.

Renewal Criteria

  • Student must maintain at least part-time enrollment (no less than 6 graded credit hours per semester) at his/her current tuition status leading to an undergraduate degree at UMaine.
  • Student must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better as measured each academic year at the end of the spring semester.

Other Terms

  • Understand that awards may be adjusted so that the total of all scholarships and awards does not exceed the cost of attendance as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid and federal guidelines.
  • Understand that any changes to the student’s tuition status will result in an adjustment to the award amount.
  • Students enrolling in 15 credit hours per semester are eligible for the full semester amount of their award (one half of the annual award amount).
