Maine Music Performance Scholarship

First-Year Students

General Scholarship Information

  • Awards are renewable for up to a total of 8 semesters for new first-year students and for up a total of 4 semesters for transfer students, provided that the student meets renewal criteria listed below.
  • Awards are disbursed in two equal installments, one at the beginning of the fall semester and one at the beginning of the spring semester, as credit toward the student’s tuition account.
  • The award must be used within a period not to exceed five years.

Renewal Criteria

  • Student must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (see Undergraduate Catalog for more information).
  • Student must maintain at least part-time enrollment (no less than 6 graded credit hours per semester) at his/her current tuition status leading to an undergraduate degree at UMaine.
  • Student must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better as measured each academic year at the end of the spring semester.
  • Student must participate in at least one music ensemble/performance group each semester.

Other Terms

  • Understand that if the student’s cumulative GPA falls below the required level or if the student fails to complete a minimum of six graded credit hours per semester, the student will no longer be eligible to receive the award and it will be discontinued.
  • Understand that awards may be adjusted so that the total of all scholarships and awards does not exceed the cost of attendance as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid and federal guidelines.
  • Understand that any changes to the student’s tuition status will result in an adjustment to the award amount.
  • Students enrolling in 15 credit hours per semester are eligible for the full semester amount of their award (one half of the annual award amount). For students enrolling in 6 to 14 credits, the dollar amount of the award will be pro-rated based on the number of enrolled credits. Students enrolling in fewer than 6 credit hours per semester are not eligible for their award.

  • meets Satisfactory Academic Progress
  • enrolls in 15 credits as a full-time student in good standing with a dance minor
  • maintains GPA of 2.5 or better
  • participating in at least one main stage dance concert each year
  • participating in at least one dance ensemble
