From social celebration to civic participation to academic preparation, UMaine’s Campus Life offers it all. Take part in campus-wide activities like Homecoming or Family and Friends Weekend.
UMaine offers incoming first-year students the option of living in one of six residence halls — in one dedicated area — during their first year at the university. As part of campus life, students are encouraged to develop and maintain relationships with their hallmates through eight Living Learning Communities.
Bring a taste for all your go-to meals like mac and cheese and burger and fries, but also bring an appetite for organic and locally sourced foods. Healthy choices, special dietary needs and food allergy-specific dishes are all served at UMaine.
Athletics and Recreation
As the only NCAA Division I school in Northern New England, UMaine is home to storied men’s and women’s sports teams, including football, basketball, soccer, field hockey and ice hockey. Come play with us as a teammate, spectator or intramural athlete. Our tradition dates back to 1885, but our pride goes much deeper.
Nestled between the Stillwater and Penobscot Rivers in Orono, Maine, the University of Maine is approximately 12 miles from Bangor, 140 miles from Portland and 250 miles from Boston. Most importantly, some of the country’s most spectacular destinations — including Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor and Mount Katahdin — are within easy reach. UMaine offers a safe, green and classically New England experience.
