General Information

Outdoor Orientation Trips

UMaine’s outdoor orientation trips, OPTIONS, occur prior to Fall Welcome Weekend.  OPTIONS trips focus on teaching students outdoor skills and helping prepare them for their upcoming college experience by meeting awesome new people, making lasting friendships, and learning about University life from experienced UMaine students and staff. New students will get to explore Maine with student trip leaders from the Maine Bound Adventure Center.  The experience will begin and end on campus, but most of their trip will be spent in the great Maine outdoors.  Click here for more info or call the Maine Bound Adventure Center at 207.581.1794.

New Commuters Welcome Day

All new commuter students are invited to attend the New Commuters Welcome Day on Thursday, August 29, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Memorial Union.  To view the schedule, visit the Commuter and Non-Traditional Student Programs website.  For more information, please call the Commuter and Non-Traditional Student Programs office at 207.581.1734.

Maine Hello Residence Hall Move-In

All new first-year and transfer students living on-campus move in on Friday, August 30.  Please refer to the Maine Hello Info and Schedule to plan your residence hall move-in.  For more information, please call the First Year Center at 207.581.1420.

New Student Orientation Meetings

For students who were unable to attend a Summer Orientation session, there will be New Student Orientation Meetings on Friday, August 31 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. every hour on the hour in the Memorial Union.

Note to Families

Family members are welcome to accompany their students to help them settle into their new homes and participate in some of the events planned on the first day of Fall Welcome Weekend on Friday, August 30.
