Hello, and welcome. Today we’re going to talk about the University of Maine’s MyCampus Portal, often simply called the Portal. It’s a site that allows single-sign-on access to MaineStreet and BlackBoard.

It also has quick links that take you directly to certain heavily used pages in MaineStreet and the university website. Today I’m going to show you how to access the portal, and go over some of its highlights.

First up, how to get to the portal. Unfortunately, there is no direct link to get there. You have to type the address into the address bar at the top of the screen. The address is simple, though — my.umaine.edu — and hit enter. It will take you to the login page.

This is the login page. You log in here using your MaineStreet login credentials. Then you hit the login button.

If it takes 5 to 10 seconds to load, don’t worry about it. That’s fairly normal.

This is your portal welcome page. In the center of the page, you see your campus announcements, and below that, UMaine news releases.

Off to the right here, is the UMaine Portal suggestion widget. Here, you can send a message to the Portal administrator letting them know if there’s any particular additions you’d like to make to the Portal.

To the left here is your launch pad. Here is MaineStreet, and if you click on it, it will open up MaineStreet directly and take you to the intro page to MaineStreet. You don’t have to sign in, because you’ve already signed in with the Portal.

Here’s BlackBoard. Again, don’t have to sign in, because you already signed in through the portal.

We also have Synapse down here. Unfortunately, Synapse is not part of the single-sign-on, so while it will take you to the Synapse login page, you will have to log in yourself.

There’s also the web login FirstClass. Just do keep in mind that this web version of FirstClass does not have the full functionality that the versions on your computer or your phone would have.

As a student here at University of Maine, you automatically receive a Google account, and you can connect to it with your MaineStreet login. However, by logging into the portal, you automatically log into your UMaine Google account as well.

You can reach some of your Google products right here through the portal. Here is your Gmail icon, your Google Calendar icon, and your Google Drive icon.

There’s also icons for UMaine Athletics, the Fogler Library, the A to Z Directory and the University of Maine website. Below the launch pad are a number of quick links into MaineStreet itself.

For instance, if we wanted to go to the Student Center, you click that, and now we’re at my Student Center. Similarly, if we wanted to check financial aid, click the financial aid button, and here we are at the financial aid page, where I can select an aid year to view.

Below the MaineStreet quick launch are a number of UMS ID management links. Here we have a number of options to manage your UMS ID, that is your MaineStreet ID or your maine.edu email account ID, as they’re both the same.

Here you can change the password, or you can change your email forwarding. Now along the top, here, are a number of drop-down menus, such as academic resources, news and events.

These links take you to frequently used websites or MaineStreet pages. For instance, if we wanted to go to MaineCard Office, you select MaineCard under campus life, and it takes you to the online card office.

Similarly, if we wanted to go to the student handbook, this would take us directly there. As you can see, there’s a lot of functionality here in the portal that allows you to quickly get to numerous websites and lots of information.

This is the portal in a nutshell. Thanks for joining us. Have a great day.
